Canadian Patrick Taylor of The Poison Kitchen writes “Google likes content” and goes on to say:
Don’t waste your time on meta keywords. Google doesn’t rate them highly and other search engines are starting to ignore them because of abuse. Link. Link alot. Google likes links and if your site gets attention from other indexed sites, then it will get promoted in the listings.

Want to boost your link’s rating? Wrap the hyperlink around words people might search for (text in hyperlinks is valued higher by Google so take advantage of it).
