Las Vegas Monorail
August 3, 2004 | In vehicles |Interesting story in today’s SDUT about “urban maglev” trains. This article caught my eye as I recently had the opportunity to ride on the new (opened July 15) Las Vegas Monorail. The LVM cars are small, fast(50mph), air conditioned with limited seating. They need to add more handhold bars for standing passengers. The stations are located near the strip, but plan on a lot of walking after you disembark. Currently the route runs from the Sahara to the MGM Grand. Eventually the route will run from McCarran airport to downtown. A day pass is for the four mile ride is currently $10.00 which will be raised to $15.00 next month. Save some money by purchasing the 2-ride pass for $5.75. It’s a fun adventure.
