How to Make “Spinning” Vehicle Photography

March 30, 2006 | In vehicles, photography | No Comments

Before you get started, make sure you have the following supplies: A digital camera, a tripod, about 100ft of rope, a second person, and chalk. You can use Photoshop to create an animated gif from the 33 photos of the car. Obviously, you are going to have the background in each shot, so if you want a silhouette like the example below, you are going to need to cut out the vehicle in each frame and replace the background with white.

Main Page Sidebar Display Once

March 29, 2006 | In marketing, blogging | No Comments

How would someone display an ad only on the main page sidebar?

The Conditional Tags can be used in your Template files to change what content is displayed and how that content is displayed on a particular page depending on what conditions that page matches. For example, you might want to display a snippet of text above the series of posts, but only on the main page of your blog. With the is_home() Conditional Tag, that task is made easy.

< ?php if(is_home()) : ?>
~ad code here ~
< ?php endif; ?>

How can I surf the Web anonymously?

March 28, 2006 | In security | No Comments

Previously I posted about the community discussion held at USD about safe Web surfing.

Tor is a toolset for a wide range of organizations and people that want to improve their safety and security on the Internet. Using Tor can help you anonymize web browsing and publishing, instant messaging, IRC, SSH, and other applications that use the TCP protocol. Tor also provides a platform on which software developers can build new applications with built-in anonymity, safety, and privacy features.

Tor aims to defend against traffic analysis, a form of network surveillance that threatens personal anonymity and privacy, confidential business activities and relationships, and state security. Communications are bounced around a distributed network of servers called onion routers, protecting you from websites that build profiles of your interests, local eavesdroppers that read your data or learn what sites you visit, and even the onion routers themselves.

Adding Site Meter to WordPress - PlugIn

March 23, 2006 | In web apps | No Comments

Previously I described how to “manually” add Site Meter to Wordpress.

Here is a WordPress plugin to “automatically” add the Site Meter tracking code to all your blog’s pages . It works with WordPress 1.5 and 2.0.

To use it:

Download the plugin.

-Unzip it and put the “SiteMeter.php” file into your plugins directory.
-Go to the WordPress “plugins” page and click on “Activate” to turn the plugin on.
-Go to the “Options” page and click on the “Site Meter” tab.
-Enter the codename of your Site Meter account.
-Press the “Update Options” button.

That’s all there is to it.
