Internet Marketing 101

Friday morning we drove up to Hollyood to present my Internet Marketing 101 seminar at MacGathering 2006. After battling traffic for 3 hours, we finally arrived at the charming Beverly Garland Hotel. We ate a quick lunch and made our way over to registration to pick up our badges and wrist bands. We walked into the exhibit area and talked with several of the vendors. One notable exhibitor was RadTech, which “designs, manufactures and distributes innovative, high-tech accessories for the digitally aware”. They had a several cool devices that we wanted to buy immediately. Check them out when you get a chance.

We left the exhibits to find the seminar room and take a look at the layout. From past experience I never rely on having Internet access available even when I am assured that it is up. I was told that there would be wi-fi access and I heard that it was functioning earlier in the day, but at the time of my presentation, I wasn’t suprised that it was down. Not a problem I thought, as I had made screen captures of all the web pages I wanted to show. Feeling a little smug, I was ready to go until the room tech asked me if I had the video cable for mac laptop I was using. Uh, no. That presented a small problem if I wanted to connect to the digital projector. Fortunately we were at a Mac expo, so borrowing a cable wasn’t that difficult. Whew!

The presentation went very well and there were good questions asked by the audience. I passed around a signup list for those who wanted a “best of” list from the presentation and if you weren’t there I will make it available to you if you send your full name, city/zip and business email address (sorry, no free email addresses) to me. Make sure you put Internet Marketing 101 as the subject.

We had dinner at Tulas which I highly recommend. After that we attended the MacMixer where we had the opportunity to meet a blast from the past, Jerry Mathers aka Theodore ‘Beaver’ Cleaver. We took off shortly after that and a few hours later we were home.

I myself have not yet listened to it, but there it is, in all its imperfect glory.
