Apple iPhone Goes On Sale

iPhone

Earlier this year I posted about Apple’s negotiations with Cisco for the rights to the trademarked name .

Tomorrow, June 29, the much heralded goes on sale with cellular service provided by .

Two iPhone models will be sold: a $499 version with 4 gigabytes of memory and an 8-gigabyte model for $599. Both have a touch-screen display (no buttons) and access to e-mail and the Web.

Here’s a compilation of the features culled from Apple’s iPhone site:

Introducing iPhone

iPhone combines three amazing products — a revolutionary mobile phone, a widescreen iPod with touch controls, and a breakthrough Internet communications device with desktop-class email, web browsing, maps, and searching — into one small and lightweight handheld device. iPhone also introduces an entirely new user interface based on a large multi-touch display and pioneering new software, letting you control everything with just your fingers. So it ushers in an era of software power and sophistication never before seen in a mobile device, completely redefining what you can do on a mobile phone.

Widescreen iPod

iPhone is a widescreen iPod with touch controls that lets you enjoy all your content — including music, audiobooks, videos, TV shows, and movies — on a beautiful 3.5-inch widescreen display. It also lets you sync your content from the iTunes library on your PC or Mac. And then you can access it all with just the touch of a finger.

Revolutionary Phone

iPhone is a revolutionary new mobile phone that allows you to make a call by simply pointing your finger at a name or number in your address book, a favorites list, or a call log. It also automatically syncs all your contacts from a PC, Mac, or Internet service. And it lets you select and listen to voicemail messages in whatever order you want — just like email.

Breakthrough Internet Device

iPhone features a rich HTML email client and Safari — the most advanced web browser ever on a portable device — which automatically syncs bookmarks from your PC or Mac. Safari also includes built-in Google and Yahoo! search. iPhone is fully multi-tasking, so you can read a web page while downloading your email in the background over Wi-Fi or EDGE.

High Technology

iPhone features the most revolutionary user interface since the mouse. It’s an entirely new interface based on a large multi-touch display and innovative new software that lets you control everything using only your fingers. So you can glide through albums with Cover Flow, flip through photos and email them with a touch, or zoom in and out on a section of a web page — all by simply using iPhone’s multi-touch display.
Intelligent Keyboard

iPhone’s full QWERTY soft keyboard lets you easily send and receive SMS messages in multiple sessions. And the keyboard is predictive, so it prevents and corrects mistakes, making it easier and more efficient to use than the small plastic keyboards on many smartphones.

Apple will sell the combination cell phone, media player and wireless Web-surfing device with help from AT&T, the largest U.S. mobile-phone service, which said that more than 1 million customers have expressed interest in the device. AT&T is the only current service provider and has exclusive iPhone rights for two years.

AdSense Rounded Corners

AdSense Rounded Corners

JenSense reports that rounded corners are now available to AdSense publishers as a new format option. Most publishers leave the border off, so this feature should not have widespread appeal.

The following code is added to your script if you select rounded corners:

google_ui_features = “rc:6″; [slightly rounded]

google_ui_features = “rc:10″; [very rounded]

google_ui_features = “rc:0″; [default, square corners]

If your site has lots of rounded corners and you have an example of using this new feature, post the link in comments.

Simple Billing Solution

Monday, June 25th, 2007

Founded in 1998, is a retailer for digitally delivered products. ClickBank now offers , which allows you to sell subscriptions, memberships, and monthly access to digital products.

The ClickBank recurring billing option does not require any monthly minimums or fees; you pay purely on successful transaction value. There’s nothing additonal to apply for as the recurring billing option has been enabled for all ClickBank merchants.

The transaction fees are as follows: For recurring billing items over $40, the fees are 7.5% of the retail price + a $1 “stocking” charge. For items under $40, it’s 9.9%. However ClickBank’s service does reduce processing and looks after refund and charge back problems. They have fraud screening as well. Compared to , those may be reasons enough to use Clickbank — plus their affiliate features are also included and the commission percentage is taken from the net sale price.

In addition to ClickBank being a one stop shop for recurring billing, those with a new business looking for a simple ecommerce solution which doesn’t involve a substantial initial time or money outlay should take a closer look at what ClickBank has to offer.

Exactly 3 months ago I posted about the , as part of Tulsa’s Golden Jubilee Week a.k.a. “Tulsarama!”

Today the car, which was buried in brand-new condition under the lawn of the Tulsa County Courthouse in 1957, is scheduled to be unearthed as part of the Oklahoma Centennial. The person who came closest in 1957 to guessing Tulsa’s 2007 population — or his or her heirs — will be awarded the car. If it’s in good shape, it may be worth $25,000 or more.

The official Internet site of the event is buriedcar.com. The Tulsa World has a special online section with schedules, video, a slideshow and articles leading up to the unearthing. KOTV of Tulsa will televise the unveiling live at 7 p.m. Central time today (Friday) and live on KOTV.com.

Update: June 16, 2007
The actual car, pictured below, suffered serious corrosion due to being buried in a vault that turned out not to be waterproof. Sadly, the 50-year-old artifact is all rotting fabrics and rusting metals.

How Do I Capture Hard to Get Streaming Video and Music Formats?

Saturday, June 9th, 2007

Are you having problems downloading, recording or and mp3 files?

Media using a transport protocol other than HTTP is difficult to capture. There is a simple solution for recording all kinds of previously unrecordable format Flash Videos and capturing streaming files. It’s the easy to use software program, Replay Media Catcher, an excellent FLV & MP3 capture tool.

Replay Media Catcher lets you record videos that are streamed via the protocol and Macromedia Flash Communication Server technology.

Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) is a proprietary protocol developed by Adobe Systems (formerly developed by Macromedia) that is primarily used with Adobe Flash Media Server to stream audio and video over the internet to the Adobe Flash Player client.

With Replay Media Catcher, just click Start Recording and grin as large amounts of great media fills your hard drive. Replay Media Catcher runs on Windows PCs with Windows 2000, XP, server 2003 or Vista. If you own a Mac, you’ll need an Intel based Mac running Bootcamp or Parallels.

A free trial is available! Learn more about Replay Media Catcher.

Note: To capture video and audio files streamed in Windows Media or Real formats, try Replay A/V.
