Summer Movie Picks

Movie Theater

There’s no way of knowing what the quality will be of these summer movies. Some of them will definitely be worth seeing when they come around to your local theater. Rotten Tomatoes is a resource to get a feel for what people are saying.

“Iron Man” - You’ve already seen it.

“The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian” – The first “Chronicles” was entertaining.

“Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull” – Fourth hat and whip adventure starring Harrison Ford.

“The Happening” – M. Night Shyamalan directs an environmental horror flick starring Mark Wahlberg.

“The Incredible Hulk” – So soon? With Edward Norton and Liv Tyler, and of course, Lou Ferrigno.

“Get Smart” – Steve Carell as Don Adams’ Maxwell Smart with Anne Hathaway as Barbara Feldon’s Agent 99.

“Wall-E” – Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class is Pixar’s latest animated story of a lonely, trash collecting robot.

“Wanted” – Graphic-novel adaptation about an elite team of assassins with Angelina Jolie, James McAvoy and Morgan Freeman.

“Hancock” – Will Smith as a drunken superhero? With Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman.

“Hellboy II: The Golden Army” – Guillermo del Toro directs and Ron Perlman stars as Hellboy for this sequel. The first Hellboy was a supernatural action-thriller with a good blend of humor. Remember Perlman in “Beauty and the Beast”, opposite Linda Hamilton?

“Journey to the Center of the Earth 3D” – Titled after the the Jules Verne novel, this digital-3D family adventure stars Brendan Fraser.

“The Dark Knight” – Directed by Christopher Nolan. Christian Bale returns as Bruce Wayne/Batman and Heath Ledger takes his final bow in his role as the Joker.

“The X-Files: I Want to Believe” – How will Gillian Anderson and David Duchovny play this?

“The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor” – Brendan Fraser is back for the third installment. This time it takes place in China.

“Blindness” – A town is hit with an epidemic that causes blindness. Only Julianne Moore has the ability to see.

“Pineapple Express” – James Franco and Seth Rogen star in a comedy/chase movie about a stoner and his dealer.

“Babylon A.D.” – Vin Diesel plays a mercenary escorting a woman from Russia to Germany -or is it China- in this sci-fi story.

“Traitor” – A CIA agent played by Don Cheadle infiltrates a terrorist group. With Guy Pearce.

  1. All of these look killer with exception to the Hulk where the Hulk still looks like CG but should be off balanced with Ed Norton’s kick ass performance.

Get Smart looks hilarious but sorry Wall-E, your not getting into my wallet. Five is alive already did that.

I only hope that they give a “in loving memory of” to Heath Ledger in the credits otherwise I’ll be really disappointed.

And Vin, I’m sure if you won’t be getting my dollars either.

You missed “the Love Guru” with Mike Myers and Sandler’s “You Don’t Mess with the Zohan” flick. Both slapstick but should be funny.

  2. Iron Man, Speed Racer, Dark Knight, and Wall-E are the only ones I’m interested in seeing in theaters. The rest have not sold me. Perhaps that will change.

Indy marginally interests me, but Indy 3 was large disappointment and I expect very little.

Iron Man was a big pleaser. Very well done.
